Value proposition & Business model

Most of the time, entrepreneurs have a strong technical background but a real lack of business expertise. They strongly believe that building the strongest, fastest and most powerful product on earth, is the key to success. Unfortunately it is not as simple and for many reasons : you may have a fantastic product that does not fill a market gap or does not respond to any customer needs or problems. You may have the most disruptive technology but you do not know how or where or whom to sell it?

Most entrepreneurs fail when the times comes to convert a great idea into revenues or users.

 

INVESTOR & SALES PITCH

Having a great idea is a good start but if you can't sell it to potential customers or investors, it worth nothing. And it is not as easy as it seems. Customers and Investors have different needs and you need to address them with appropriate messages.  Investors have unique requirements  and are looking at very specific topics that you may skip or just forget. And as the Rule says, " You usually have only one chance with an investor". It's better not to waste it. 


Business PLAN & FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS

At some point, every entrepreneur looks for seed money to finance critical business aspects like working capital, new developments, sales expansion or marketing activities. In 90% of cases, the fundraising process and timeline are long and complex.  To succeed, the entrepreneur needs to provide a reliable plan and credible projections in the eyes of bankers and potential investors. It is not enough to believe in your project. You better have to describe on how you plan to turn it into a profitable business.

As explained previously, at some point, the entrepreneur needs funds. But what kind of funds? How much do you really need? And what for? Is it the right time? Are you willing to dilute shareholders? At which company valuation? How do you value your company? 

 

MARKET SEGMENTATION - SALES & GO-TO-MARKET STRATEGY

You believe your idea could address a potential 2 billion global market? Great! But as a sole entrepreneur or small team, how do expect to reach these 2 billions? How long will it take? How much will it cost? Where should you start? How and how long and how much does it take to acquire a new customer or user? Where do they come from? How many leads or prospects do you need to win one new customer/user? How do you retain your existing customers?

Sometimes the entrepreneur may have the feeling that he lacks some skills or knowledges to run all aspects of a business.
